_____________________________________________________________________________

Hello! I’m Winnie! I am 6 months old and weigh about 18 pounds.

I am a sweet, shy and playful Shiba puppy! Like other puppies I have lots of energy and love to play. I really enjoy being around other dogs who help me feel more confident.

I am pretty hesitant in new situations. Meeting new people can be scary for me but I am willing to engage with new people because I know they are nice and friendly! It just takes me time to feel safe with them. Since new people can be a bit scary it would be best if my future family didn’t have any young kids.

I like my crate and sleep in there quietly at night. I also hang out there when the humans leave the house and I don’t have any accidents! I enjoy eating two meals a day with the other dogs at the house. I prefer going outside with other dogs otherwise I get nervous. I am still learning how to walk on a leash so a fenced yard would be great for me!

Even though I am still skittish, I’m making progress each day and am learning to trust my foster parents more and more! I know with a quiet, and patient family, who has another dog to help me feel confident that I will flourish into a brave and happy dog!

• Currently being fostered near Chicago, IL •

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Winnie, please follow all of the steps above. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

For general adoption questions, please check the website here: shibarescue.org/adoption-process

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
