Luna
KEY STATISTICS:
About 4-years old
Lots of petting required
Timid
Secure fence required
My name is Luna! I am a 4 year old Shiba who weighs about 30 pounds.
Some of my favorite things to do are hang out a fenced yard, play fetch, cuddle with my human in bed, and spend time in my cozy crate.
At first I am afraid of new people, but I warm up to them quickly and have discovered how nice it is to be pet! I like to be in control though and ask for the pets when I want them. I love my foster dad the most and even head butt him when he’s not paying attention to my requests for pets!
I am pretty nervous when my humans make me try to walk on a leash. I should probably have a fenced yard while I’m learning how to use a leash, otherwise it will be hard for me to do my bathroom business outside. I don’t have any accidents inside if I am taken out every few hours.
I really like to play with other male dogs. I tend to boss female dogs around and like to be in charge! I would do well living with another confident dog who I can learn canine social cues from.
I’m a smart girl who just wants a family who is looking for a loving, cuddly and sweet companion. Hopefully I will find them soon!

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Luna, please email her personal secretary, Ali, at Ali@shibarescue.org and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience! If you’d like to speed up the process, please fill out and submit an application. To speed things up even more, send Ali your pet’s most recent vet records.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about. Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you. You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process. The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.
NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area. In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
