Hello world! My name is Trixie. I’m a petite, 4-year old Shiba, weighing only 15 pounds. I’m looking for a family who has experience with Shibas and/or timid puppy mill rescues like myself. My future home needs to have a fenced yard while I learn how to walk safely on a leash.

I am a good, quiet dog! I come inside when foster mom calls me. Once inside I head to my cozy crate which is where I feel safest inside. I enjoy eating wet dog food in there when nobody is around. I’m nervous around humans still but I know I’ll learn to love them with some more time.

I should live with an older, confident dog. I love to run around in the yard with my Shiba foster sibling! I do let my humans hold me but I don’t really love it yet. It makes me a little nervous but I’m making progress every day!

If you’re a patient person looking for a quiet and calm pet, I would love to meet you!

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Trixie, please email her personal secretary, Ali, at Ali@shibarescue.org and let us know why you think your family would be a perfect home. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience! If you’d like to speed up the process, please fill out and submit an application. To speed things up even more, send Ali your pet’s most recent vet records.

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
