Hi! I’m Yoshi, a young male Shiba looking for my forever family!

Right now I am a timid boy, who does best when there is another dog around to show me that everything is okay. I am learning to trust humans. It takes me some time to be willing to go up to them for pets. I walk away when I’ve had enough, but I am learning to enjoy them!

I like spending time in my crate when the humans leave the house. Although I will whine and paw at the door when I am ready to be let out. I don’t like sleeping in the crate at night, though.

I need a fenced-in yard as I currently don’t know how to walk on a leash. I am scared of cars so I need a family that will have time to work on training with me to make me feel more comfortable outside. I’m a sweet boy who just needs a patient human and maybe another confident doggy sibling to help me break out of my shell!

• Currently being fostered outside of Chicago, IL •

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Yoshi, please follow all of the steps above. We are an all-volunteer rescue, so it may take time to receive a response. Please limit to one email per family - we thank you in advance for your patience!

AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.

Any one interested in adopting this dog must first complete an adoption application indicating the name of the dog(s) they are interested in learning more about.  Once the adoption application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you.  You must respond to this email to set up your home visit and complete the approval process.  The entire adoption process is outlined on our web site.

NOTE: Due to the breed's independent and prey driven nature, Shibas should ALWAYS be leashed whenever they are outside of a securely fenced area.  In addition, many Shibas are door bolters and care should be taken around doors and other escape points.
